Dream a dream with us...

We envision a safe, welcoming place for children to explore their world, stretch their imaginations and develop their abilities through hands-on displays and activities.  The interactive Children’s Museum of Jamestown will be designed for the interests and skills of all children from infancy on up, and their adult companions.  In the process we will develop ties with businesses, schools and other organizations in our community, and highlight the unique qualities of our region.  We invite your participation and support.

What do you have in mind?

Lots of ideas have been generated, and we invite your own! 

So far, participants have been excited about including:

* Physical activity

* Science projects and demonstrations

* Visual arts

* Music and drama

* Multi-sensory activities for infants

* Games and puzzlers

* Displays linked to school curricula

* Activities led by experts

* Rooms for parties and classes

* Items and events that highlight the unique resources of the Jamestown area

  & southern Chautauqua County

Based on what is (and is not) already available for children and families, our focus is on younger children – infants through elementary school age – but also including adolescents and teens. We will appeal to all types of families and all income levels.  The facility, as yet to be determined in location, will be colorful, accessible and inviting.  We hope that children and their companions will make repeat visits as skills develop and various displays change seasonally.

Make the Vision a Reality!

A lot of preparations need to be done before we have a museum-type facility.  For now, CMJ volunteers plan to bring hands-on activities to regional events, so that children and adults can have a taste of what a children’s museum can offer the community.  Visit our other web-pages to find out more!
